The village in the shadow of Malaga's largest mountain
Alcaucin
A feast for the eyes
At over 2080 metres high, the massive, often snow-capped, La Maroma mountain towers over the little village of Alcaucin.
But beneath it lies an incredibly varied and amazing geographical landscape that is a feast for the eyes. Here Alcaucín has stood for centuries, a pretty, Moorish style village in the north of the Axarquía region.
Alcaucín village is well worth exploring. It is a myriad of small whitewashed houses hidden amongst steep, winding streets with patios and balconies decorated with flowers.
